Warning, this is a Beyonce related post. Do not worry, I will not be reviewing her latest album. I will not be covering the messages within each song. I simply wanted to make a post on how she and countless other women continue to inspire women and young girls from all walks of life. This weekend, Beyonce released a new visual album. While we may be side-eying Jay-Z, let us stop and truly embrace the entire body of art Beyonce so graciously delivered.
I often wonder if Beyonce gets an extra hour or two in her day. Where can I find 26 hours in a day?!?
How did she manage to release an album, write the songs, and even record full out videos while releasing a new Ivy Park fitness line?!? This woman is unstoppable! We, you and I, can do the very same. We may not want to be a singer or do the exact things Beyonce does, but I can tell her aim is to inspire women to stand up for themselves, expel the stereotypes, embrace your uniqueness, and make lemonade when life throws you lemons. I am inspired.
Inspiration creates inspiration…
One thing I admire about Beyonce is her dedication to her craft. Whatever your craft is, learn it, become an expert. Everything will not happen overnight. You are your own competition. You are your motivation. I am my motivation. Others, known and unknown, continue to inspire me. Obviously, I do not blog for a living (I would need to put up more posts! lol). However, I make it an effort to perfect my crafts. I am not perfect and never will claim to be. However, I was able to move up quickly in the workforce due to studying my craft, even when I was not at work. We may not have the Beyonce “funds,” but we do have the same 24 hours that Beyonce has. I constantly remind myself that I have the same amount of hours as Oprah, Beyonce, etc. I admire how she approached her latest adventure with TopShop. She did not simply endorse a fitness line. She created it and owns it 50/50. I will make it a point this week to continue to take care of my mind, body, and soul. I will continue to remove all self-imposed limitations. What can you do more of this week to carry out those goals you set? What can you do less of? What can you start doing? How can we continue the line of inspiration? How can we inspire the often forgotten? Some may have never witnessed success directly. I would list my favorite songs but honestly I appreciated each song, from Freedom to Hold Up to Sorry. Even if I could not completely relate, I appreciate the body of art. Beyonce will not allow you to just sample singles. She is truly one of the artists who will require you to listen to her entire album before just purchasing a single. This is not common in today’s music world. Beyonce is Beyonce. However, I am Monica and you are you. Let us admire but use it as a catalyst to accomplish our own goals through the good, bad, and indifferent. Beyonce continues to show us vulnerability, even if everything is not directly from her life. If you experienced a bad break-up, reclaim your power. There is often growth in vulnerability.
Whatever that situation you are going through, use it as motivation, use it as a tool of growth. Make lemonade…
What did you think of Beyonce’s latest visual album? Did it inspire you in some way? Let us make lemonade this week and forever…maybe even add some strawberries 🙂 When you are done, just continue to smile. You did it 🙂 We did it… Until the next blog…. Monica Monica L.
