I have a confession. I am secretly terrified of flying. Not in a literal sense, but I am always a little uneasy during takeoff. I close my eyes and hope to magically sleep through the entire flight. Lately, it seems like I can rarely sleep on the plane! Maybe I should consider Benadryl. lol. I have traveled a lot this year. This past month, I had two round-trip flights. I actually have another two round-trips scheduled next month! I have been bit by the travel bug and have no intent to stop flying. One of these past flights, I experienced quite a bit of turbulence. It was not my normal turbulence. It was the “is this plane going to drop out of the sky turbulence?” Honestly, I rarely experience turbulence. The truth is I know that planes are built to sustain turbulence and certain conditions. Even if I have hesitations, I will continue to fly because I prefer a 2-hour flight over a 10-hour car drive. It made me think:
Sometimes you have to do the very thing that scares you to get to the place you want to go…
We are built to sustain the turbulence of life. You are built for this and you are going to make it. I do not know what you are going through, but I do know that life will throw curveballs at us. There will be turbulence. Sometimes it will be expected and sometimes it will be unannounced. This recent turbulence, the pilot did not announce. I love a good warning when life is about to throw a curveball. However, it may not always work that way. We must remember that even with the possibility of turbulence, we must do the very thing that scares us to get to the place we want to go. Turbulence is only temporary. The end-result, the destination is the reward. Keep flying. You’re going to soar.
